WCIT 2023
For the first time ever, the World Congress on Innovation & Technology (WCIT 2023) will be held in Kuching City – the capital of Sarawak state in Malaysia’s Borneo region. This 27th installment of WCIT will witness world leaders, policymakers, innovators, academics and thought leaders from a variety of communities in science, tech, and humanities fields, all converging to discuss the key global issues surrounding innovation and technology, guided by the principle of “Fulfilling the Promise of the Digital Age”, in line with Sarawak’s digital economy blueprint, as well as recognising Global Excellence in Innovation and Technology with the annual Awards Gala, exhibition and business networking and matchmaking.
DESTINATION
Sarawak is emerging as a leading digitalised state within Southeast Asia (SEA). The region has seen an increase in 9.9% of digital communities, bringing the total number to 463 million (wearesocial, 2023). Diverse communities here are spending more time than ever before in virtual spaces, prospering innovation cultures and fostering inclusivity. This year’s WCIT 2023 will facilitate these dialogues, transformation and connecting Southeast Asia to the rest of the world.

Countries can harness the potential of autonomous systems to drive innovation, efficiency, and sustainable growth; ensuring that they are designed and implemented in ways that are safe, ethical and beneficial for all.

Diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion are more important than ever. More views are brought to the tech industry through enhancing the capability, opportunity, and dignity of those who are disadvantaged due to their identity.

Greater bandwidth, ultra-low latency, and faster connections are transforming industries, expanding societies, and significantly improving everyday experiences. Services once thought to be futuristic, such as e-health, networked cars and traffic systems, and advanced mobile cloud gaming, are now readily accessible.
Global ICT Policy
Global ICT policy is designed to address a wide range of issues related to the use of technology, including internet governance, data privacy and security, e-commerce, intellectual property rights, digital divide, and also cybercrime. Overall, these policies are crucial to ensure that technology is used in a responsible and ethical manner.
Space Tech
Rapidly evolving with new advancements being made all the time, space tech has a profound impact in many aspects of our lives; from scientific exploration to national security and economic growth up to our everyday technology. Its significance is only expected to grow as we carry on exploring and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
